LEED for Homes Program
LEED for Homes is a voluntary rating system that promotes the design and construction of high performance "green" homes. The LEED for Homes Rating System has 4 certification tiers to recognize and reward builders for meeting the LEED performance standards. LEED also gives a homeowner a simple recognized means of knowing that their new green home is durable, healthy, and environmentally friendly. Three years ago, BKI was hired by the USGBC to be the primary consultant to assist them in the development of LEED for Homes. BKI has been actively engaged in every aspect of the development, pilot testing and roll-out of this program. USGBC announced the national launch of the LEED for Homes rating system at the November 2007 GreenBuild Conference in Chicago. In August of 2008, BKI became a qualified LEED for Homes Provider, offering technical, marketing and verification support to builders. To learn more about these services, please call Ed Von Thoma at 612.867.3228 or contact us here for more info. BKI is proud to have been involved in the development and implementation of this pivotal national program. To learn more about the LEED for Homes Program, click here.
